Welcome! I am currently a Grand Strategy, Security, and Statecraft Postdoctoral Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Hans J. Morgenthau Fellow at the University of Notre Dame. I received my PhD in Political Science in 2022 from the University of Pennsylvania and was a Predoctoral Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School from 2021 to 2022. Starting in the fall of 2023, I will be an Assistant Professor of International Relations at Carnegie Mellon University.
My research focuses on questions related to the effectiveness of military force, public/policymaker support for the use of force, and the spread of military technology around the world. Should countries go to war in order to bolster their reputations for resolve? Do armed drones increase or decrease terrorism? What factors impact support for the use of nuclear/chemical weapons? What effect will greater female leadership in the U.S. and around the world have on international politics? These are the kinds of questions my research addresses.
My academic research has been published in International Organization, Journal of Conflict Resolution, International Studies Quarterly, and Security Studies. You can find my policy commentary in Foreign Affairs, Washington Post, Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, and Political Violence at a Glance.
Before starting my PhD program at Penn, I graduated from the George Washington University summa cum laude with a double major in Economics and Political Science. During that time, I interned with the State Department and the United States Senate.
